inside the lens

all along the western front, all along the eastern shore

Monthly Archives: January 2010

Two of my best friends are brilliant musicians. They are keen towards melody, harmony, timing, form and all sorts of other musical jargon. Both have either alluded to or straightforwardly stated that I am tone deaf. Oftentimes I would become upset with them and fighting would quickly ensue–receiving criticism has never been my forte. But, today I fully accept their assessment. In fact, I am more than happy to do so. It has always been said that when one sense is stunted another is heightened–possibly even enlightened; I like to think that while I may not have a musical ear, I have made up for it through my perceptive eye. So, here’s looking at you ‘best friends…’ Thank you for making it clear that my life was and never will be headed in the direction of thousands of adoring fans–you’re the best!

All that to say, welcome to ‘inside the lens’: my outlook on the world at large using the written word and a camera lens as my tools of choice to amply shout to the four corners. Okay, and possibly even a musical selection or two.
